Friends and family have approached us with ideas and pledges for fund raising. This is a great idea and we thank you enormously. We’ve set up an ‘Appeal4Felix’ trustee account with five signatories. Our two focus areas for fundraising are:
1. To contribute to any treatment or medicine for Felix which lies outside of the NHS protocol.
2. To help cover much needed funds for research and trials into neuroblastoma in order to help Felix now and children and parents of the future.
Unlike other cancers, this one is rare and therefore underfunded from a research perspective. Professor Andy Pearson, Head of Staff and Felix’s consultant at the Royal Marsden can employ two researchers at a total cost of £140,000 who would work directly on testing agents to help Felix, and many of the other fantastic children we’ve met, a step closer to making it into adulthood. The Royal Marsden is currently achieving survival rates of just over 50% for neuroblastoma, this is up dramatically from even as short as four years ago, and varies massively depending on each child’s biology.
Help us get survival rates higher!
We have already had some fantastically successful events run by family and friends.
